Women’s Health Series Webinar 4: Menopause

Women’s Health Series Webinar 4: Menopause

On Wednesday, May 14th at 7 PM CST, SAAPRI is wrapping up our Women’s Health Series with a conversation on Elderly Care.

As South Asian communities age, caregiving for elderly family members is becoming more critical—and more complex. While caregiving is deeply rooted in South Asian cultural values, conditions like dementia and Alzheimer’s present new challenges. Caregivers often navigate language barriers, limited access to culturally sensitive healthcare, and stigma around mental health.

This conversation will explore how we can better support aging individuals and their families through awareness, culturally relevant resources, and open dialogue. We’ll also discuss how education, healthcare access, and strong support networks can make caregiving more sustainable.

This special panel will be led by our Health Equity Fellow, Prottusha Sarkar, who will be joined by her mother, Dr. Arunima Sarkar—a healthcare professional with both clinical expertise and personal caregiving experience.
