On October 5th, 2024, SAAPRI hosted an engaging online event tailored for youth. We discussed the latest news and key aspects of the upcoming election, including voting methods, candidate positions, and the issues that matter most to South Asian Americans. From immigration policies to economic impacts, healthcare, and civil rights, this was a chance to connect with other youth and have meaningful discussions on important matters. Whether one was curious about the candidates or looking to make their voice heard, this event was their opportunity to get involved in the 2024 Election.
This was a non-partisan space where everyone could freely express their thoughts, learn from others, and feel empowered to participate in the 2024 Election. We aimed to foster civic engagement by providing a safe environment for youth to discuss the topics that impact them and their community the most.
The event was led by SAAPRI’s Democracy and Civic Engagement Research Fellow, Georgeena Mathai and is part of SAAPRI’s Get Out the Vote Initiative, empowering the South Asian American community to actively participate in shaping their and their country’s future.
