On May 17th, 2024, Asian American Data Inclusion, a resolution proposed by Cook County Commissioner for the 13th District Josina Morita, was unanimously passed at Cook County Government. SAAPRI’s Democracy Project Research Fellow, Litcy Kurisinkal testified alongside our community partners to advocate on behalf of our diverse AANHPI populations in Cook County, one of the most racially, ethnically and linguistically diverse counties in the country. Accurate race and ethnicity data collection is essential to identifying and resolving disparities as well as painting a true picture of the increasingly diverse U.S. population.
