On March 30th, 2022 from 6-7 PM CST, SAAPRI co-hosted a virtual presentation and Q&A session focused on keeping our Asian American communities together and to continue the conversation on redistricting.
After ensuring our hard-to-count South Asian American community members in Chicagoland were counted in the 2020 Census, SAAPRI wanted to continue the conversation by discussing why being counted was important and how that data is now impacting the drawing of maps in Illinois. Maps drawn this year will determine how our communities are represented and gain resources for the next decade. The time is now to elevate our communities’ needs.
Co-hosts: Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Chicago, Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC), HANA Center, IL Muslim Civic Coalition, Indo-American Center (IAC), AFIRE Chicago, and Cambodian Association of Illinois
Thank you to all those who attended our event!
